A NEW ladies only fitness club has opened in Leek.

The club, entitled Ladies Who Lunge, is situated at the former Britannia Social Club in Strangman Street.

The businesses is owned by Dan Mulholland, who has 13 years experience along with a degree in exercise physiology and a Masters in nutrient. He also has also obtained British Amateur weightlifting qualifications.

Dan, 37, said: "I first started my own business in Warrington 13 years ago. I then sold it so I could move down to the Stoke-on-Trent area.

"For the last five years I have run a club in Meir. I really love Leek and have always enjoyed shopping in the town, so I then decided it was the right place to open a fitness centre for ladies.

"I presently live in Trentham, but I am now looking to move into the town."

Dan is joined in the business by fitness instructor Wendy Johnson.

Wendy has been an instructor for 11 years and is also a retained firefighter at Ipstones Fire Station.

The new facility will be open seven days a week.

From Monday to Friday the centre will be open between 9am and 1pm, and then again between 3pm and 8pm.

However, Dan said they were looking at putting on some additional lunchtime fitness sessions.

On Saturday and Sunday the premises will be open between10am and 2pm.

Membership is accepted for one month, 12 months or on a pay as you go scheme.

Dan added: "We are a small friendly club offering expert advice on training and diet.

"We will be offering courses when just Wendy is in and as numbers build up we hope to employ more staff."
