PART of a major road had to be closed after a lorry and tractor were involved in a road traffic collision.
Emergency services were called to the incident at the junction of the A52 and the A523 Leek to Ashbourne Road at Calton Moor Crossroads at 11am yesterday, Tuesday.
The lorry overturned and then a tree fell on top of the vehicle causing the main highway to be closed.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to the incident at 11am which involved a lorry and a tractor. A tree had then fallen onto the truck and the area had a diesel spillage.
"The Leek side of the A523 was closed, but traffic from the Ashbourne side could still access the road to Alton Towers, Cauldon Lowe and Cheadle."
A spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "A crew from Leek and one from Ipstones were sent to the incident which involved a truck and a tractor.
"In addition, a tree has also fallen on the truck. No-one was trapped and crews made the vehicles safe."
West Midlands Ambulance Service said it sent an ambulance, doctor, senior paramedic and community first responders from the Churnet Valley to the scene.
A spokesman said: "One patient was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital for minor injuries.
"A man who received cuts to the head declined to be taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment."
