MAKE your New Year resolution to be more active by joining a guided walk through the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands this weekend.

Experienced guide John Mills is leading an eight-mile walk from the Ramblers Retreat in Oakamoor, through Great Gate, Hollington and to the medieval ruin of Croxden Abbey before returning to the start via the village of Alton.

Councillor Mark Deaville, who has the responsibility for leisure, sport, parks and countryside at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, said: "We are indeed lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country. Our guided walks are a great chance for Moorlanders to enjoy the stunning countryside and keep their resolutions to be more active in the coming year.

"This walk is a great opportunity to enjoy the wonderful countryside and the fresh air and I hope everyone who joins the walk at the weekend enjoys it and makes it the start of healthy new habits for 2014."
