VOLUNTEERS can join in helping to keep the special landscape of Cecilly Brook just as nature intended.

The Friends of Cecilly Brook have organised an event for volunteers to help the area retain its pulling power for visitors by removing Himalayan Balsam at the site on Wednesday, May 14, between 10am and 3pm.

While Himalayan Balsam may look pretty, it is an invasive weed that takes over stream banks and surrounding land at the expense of native wildflowers.

If you'd like to get involved and help the Friends pull up these weeds the meeting point on the day is South Moorlands Leisure Centre, Allen Street, Cheadle, ST10 1HJ. Gloves will be provided.
