A VILLAGE calendar group is to continue despite fears that the 2014 edition would be the last.

Ipstones Calendar Group has been producing colourful calendars of the village and Moorlands countryside for the last 10 years.

It was started by Geraldine Shuttleworth and Daphne Lowe, who have been supported by Hilary Jack.

Last November when the group launched its 2014 edition it was stated that it was likely to be the last.

Last year the calendar, which is sent by friends and relatives to people all over the world who have connections with the area, proved so successful that a reprint had to be ordered.

However, the group have now announced that they are to continue. Mrs Shuttleworth said: "We had a calendar group get together and because of the positive feedback received regarding the current Ipstones calendar from people who have received it all over the world, and the turnout at the calendar launch, we have decided to continue.

"This decision was also due in part, to the fact that at the '11th hour' a lady new to the village, Marie McGowan-Griffin, who made herself known at Cafe Connect, said she would like to be involved. She has brought some new ideas forward.

"Daphne Lowe who started the project with me 10 years ago has decided to leave the group, and I thank her most sincerely for her help and support over the years."

The theme for the 2015 calendar will be 'In and Around Ipstones'.

Geraldine added: "We now hope people will start taking pictures and then submit them to us for consideration into next year's calendar."
