A Leek College student has taken to the sky in an effort to raise money to help people suffering from heart disease.

Kelly Ratcliffe, 19, of Leek travelled with several relatives to Tilstock airfield in Shropshire last week to take part in a skydive.

Kelly, who works part-time at The Dyers Arms pub in Leek, said: "I wanted to raised money for the British Heart Foundation on behalf of my gran, Linda Ratcliffe, because she has had a heart operation.

"I decided I wanted to raise funds to help other people who have to have the same done as my gran. I have raised more than £650 and people are still donating money to me since I completed the skydive.

"It was a first time experience for me and I really enjoyed it. I would happily do it again and recommend anyone else do it. I would like to say thank you to everyone and also all customers at Dyers Arms for the sponsorship and donations."
