A SONGSTRESS will be returning to her hometown for a festive concert this weekend.

Joni Talks will be appearing at the Foxlowe Arts Centre for a special Christmas concert, “Haul Out The Holly”, on Sunday (December 1) at 7pm.

Joni told the Post & Times: “I am delighted to be performing at the Foxlowe again.

“I was overwhelmed by the turnout and support at my last concert there in the Summer.

“I have recently finished performing as the lead in “There’ll Always Be An England” at The Brick Lane Music Hall, London.

“It’s the Music Hall’s most popular show and has a special place in my heart as it’s the first show I starred in and I have played the lead every year for the last five years. “As the title may suggest, the show pays tribute to our country and the allied forces throughout World War I and II. It’s always an absolute pleasure to perform the beautiful songs written during that period in our history.

“When the curtain goes down on the last show of “There’ll Always Be An England”, we move straight into rehearsing our Christmas Show. For the last four years I have taken the lead in the annual Christmas Show.

“It’s my favourite time of year and I love singing all the old Christmas songs and carols as well as getting dressed up in the beautiful sequined costumes.

“This year I have had a huge input into writing the show too, which runs for six weeks from mid-November.

“However, when Peter Kent-Baguley at the Foxlowe asked if I would like to do something around Christmas, I jumped at the chance and planned the concert for a Sunday when I have my day off from Brick Lane.

“I will thoroughly enjoy sharing some of my favourite songs from the show at the Foxlowe. I think as a local arts venue it is perfectly situated and I always love the opportunity to come and sing somewhere a little closer to home.”

Joni's concert this weekend at The Foxlowe Arts Centre will start at 7pm.

Tickets are £5 from the venue or pay £7 on the door.
