CHEADLE Academy student Isobelle Copp has good reason to blow her own brass baritone.
A member of Kidsgrove Scouts Junior Marching Band, Isobelle, aged 12, not only got through to the UK finals in Mansfield, Nottingham, in September, but was invited to Holland for Drum Corps Europe just a week later.
Representing Great Britain, at this invitation only event Isobelle and the Band won the junior section and are now European champions.
Isobelle, who describes the brass baritone as 'smaller than a tuba and bigger than a trumpet', was elated at the prospect of going to Holland. On her return she said: “It was really close but we won, I am ecstatic.
“It was great to see the opposition but we played our best; it was a brilliant experience.” Sarah Booth, Director of Arts at The Cheadle Academy said: “The Band are worthy European Champions, this is a fantastic accolade and needless to say we are all extremely proud of Isobelle.
“She continues to give 110 per cent commitment to her musical interests at The Cheadle Academy too and we are very excited to see where this will take her in the future.”
