BLYTHE Bridge and Forsbrook Historical Society are requesting whether any readers have information concerning the following personnel recorded upon their War Memorial at St Peter's Church in Forbrook.

After three years of intensive research regarding a long list of names, the society cannot discover the link between the village and these men and one woman: Fred Colclough, William Colclough, Edwin Darlington, J Timmis, J Adams, H Hodgkiss, J Hawley (World War II), Florence Jones, George Salt.

Florence Jones is one of the few women recorded on any local Memorial and is an enigma shrouded in a mysterious blanket.

If they can confirm her story albeit First or Second World War, the society will have tracked down a true heroine.

They do have anecdotal and some snippets of information on some of these people provided by residents in the village, but any further leads would be most welcome.

As the society intend to publish these details in a book at the Centenary Anniversary for the start of the Great War in August later in the year, it is becoming a matter of some urgency to gather what information remains. Contact 01782 388241 or email bramwood2000@yahoo.co.uk
