LEEK Rugby Club are taking hundreds of fans down to Twickenham for Sunday's big cup final.

The Moorlanders take on Trowbridge at the home of England rugby in their attempt to lift the RFU Intermediate Trophy.

Victory would be the icing on the cake at the end of the most successful season in the club's 91-year history.

The 1st XI have already wrapped up the Midlands Two West (North) League championship and the RFU Midland Intermediate Cup.

More than 600 fans saw Leek come from behind to beat Aspatria from Cumberland in the national semi-finals.

Close to double that number are expected to cheer on the side at Twickenham.

"We filled close on five coaches already with supporters – people are coming in booking more than a dozen seats at a time," said club coach/player Neil Edge, who has been taking bookings at his Leek upholstery business.

"Lots of people are either going by car or arranging their own private coaches, so we should have a really big following."

Edge is unlucky not to be included in the playing squad after suffering ankle ligament damage

Tickets (£5 adults, £2 children) can be purchased at the stadium on the day for seats in the West Stand. The ticket office is in the South Stand by the rugby statue.

The match will start at 3pm after the junior and senior vase finals, at 11am and 1 pm respectively.
