Stomach bug rules out Wiggins
Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins has withdrawn from the Tour of Britain with a stomach bug, Team Sky have announced.
Wiggins was a non-starter on Friday's sixth stage from Welshpool to Caerphilly.
Team Sky wrote on Twitter: "Unfortunately Bradley Wiggins was unable to start stage six of the Tour of Britain today after picking up a stomach bug."
Due to his non-participation on the sixth stage, Wiggins' Tour of Britain is now over and he will not be able to resume the race which concludes in Guildford on Sunday.
He was 41st overall after stage five to Stoke, 12 minutes three seconds behind race leader Leigh Howard (Orica-GreenEdge).
The 32-year-old won the Tour on July 22 and his fourth Olympic gold on August 1.
