Lake girl, two, fights for life
A two-year-old girl is fighting for life after she was found in a lake at a holiday park.
The girl, who has not been named, was taken to hospital on Sunday afternoon after police were called to the Billing Aquadrome in Northamptonshire.
In a statement issued to the Northampton Chronicle and Echo, a police spokesman said the incident appeared to have been an accident and was not being treated as suspicious.
The spokesman said: "A two-year-old girl, from Northampton, was found in a lake after being missing for a short time.
"Billing Aquadrome staff administered CPR at the scene before paramedics attended."
The spokesman added: "The little girl was taken to Northampton General Hospital and later transferred to Glenfield Hospital in Leicester where she remains in a critical condition."
A spokesman for Pure Leisure Group, which owns Billing Aquadrome, said staff at the park were "deeply saddened" by the incident, the Northampton Chronicle and Echo reported.
He told the newspaper: "Everyone is deeply saddened and our thoughts go out to her parents and family. I have to praise the team at the park for their quick thinking in locking the site down immediately and launching a full search for the little girl."
