Students who have now left college and workers who want to take life further are being offered free information and advice at two Higher Education Advice Days this month.

Buxton and Leek College is holding events on Wednesday, July 30, at its Leek Campus and Thursday, July 31, at its Buxton campus.

The events are intended for anyone interested in finding out if a Foundation Degree, HNC or HND is right for them.

Thanks to the college's status as part of the University of Derby, it is able to offer degree level qualifications.

These are aimed at combining academic studies with workplace learning.

It means prospective students in and around Buxton and Leek do not need to travel to a city or beyond for Higher Education.

Foundation Degrees are designed in association with employees and place their focus on a particular job or profession.

Both Higher National Certificates and Diplomas are widely recognised qualifications, aimed at equipping employees with the knowledge and skills required for success.

Courses on offer include Foundation Degrees in Public Safety and Disaster Management, Computing, Creative Art and Design and Children's and Young People's Services – a popular course for teaching assistants and early years practitioners.

HNC level qualifications are available in Business and Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.

Additionally, starting in September 2014, students will also be able to study the Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Post 14 Teaching – an ideal course for those wanting to teach in a Further Education College.

Buxton & Leek College offers some of the lowest priced Higher Education courses in the region offering learners affordable education locally, and learners can still apply to start in September 2014.

The advice days will run from 5pm until 7pm where people can meet the tutors, tour the facilities and find out more.

To book a place on one of the advice days, call 0800 074 0099.
