A LEEK woman has raised more than £1,000 for injured soldiers after completing a successful parachute jump.
Helen Fox took part in the jump at Langar Airfield near Nottingham with a member of The Red Devils.
She was joined in the jump by Alison Edwards of Leek, who raised an additional £500.
Last week's parachute jump was the second Helen had taken part in. She is now organising a sponsored jump with The Red Devils next July and is inviting people to join her.
Helen, who has a son in the Army, said: "It was an amazing jump. We jumped backwards out of the aircraft and dropped at a speed of around 120 miles per hour. The Red Devil I was with told me to look up at the aeroplane for a spectacular sight.
"As you are falling the aircraft slowly disappears into virtually nothing.
“When the parachute had opened I was able to have a go with it. I would like to thank everyone who sponsored me as all the money is being donated to Help For Heroes."
Helen is now looking for people to join her in next year's parachute jump with The Red Devils, on July 3.
