AFTER a rest last year, the Leek Half Marathon has been reinvigorated and returns on Sunday, August 18, partly thanks to funding received from F Ball and Company of Cheddleton.
This will be the 27th staging of the event, which has proved popular with local and visiting runners alike.
The race starts and finishes in the town’s leafy Brough Park and takes in Abbey Green, Meerbrook, Blackshaw Moor and the Roaches, mainly on quiet country lanes.
Race director Adrian Northcott said: “The course is challenging – however, as a reward, runners are treated to fantastic views of countryside reaching out over Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire and North Wales on a clear day.”
There is still room for more entrants, of all abilities, and runners are urged to visit www.staffsmoorlands-ac.co.uk and click on the Leek Half 2013 page for more information.
