HGV driver in court

AN HGV driver has appeared in court following the death of a 48-year-old pedestrian.

Brian Prince appeared before magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Tuesdsy August 6, charged with causing death by driving without due care and attention.

Donna Adams was killed following an incident in Cruso Street at its junction with Broad Street, Leek, on the afternoon of October 12 last year.

Prince, of Rimbach Drive, Little Haywood, Stafford, who was not formally represented in court during the hearing.

He gave no indication of a plea and magistrates declined jurisdiction in the matter.

The 51-year-old was sent to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court to appear there on November 6, and he was granted unconditional bail.

Miss Adams lived at Hartington Close in Leek.

Staffordshire Police put out an appeal for witnesses following her death, which left the community shocked.

Officers studied CCTV from a nearby convenience store as part of their investigation.
