Leek Golf club member Leanne Nixon selected for Staffordshire county girls team

LEEK Golf Club member Leanne Nixon was selected for the Staffordshire county girls team, which played at Little Aston on Sunday.

In the Ladies Winter League, Karen Wilshaw emerged as the winner, with Jenny Cordon and Ursula Smith joint second.

Meanwhile, the first ladies summer competition took place last Tuesday.

The fixture is normally played over 15 holes, but this time it was reduced to 14 due to work on the course.

Silver Division: 1 Marion Lilley 28pts; 2 Dot Cowburn 27pts; 3 Nora Boulton 26pts.

Bronze Division: 1 Karen Wilshaw 32pts; 2 Gill Armstrong 29pts; 3 Sheila Hollins 29pts.

Texas Scramble (professional's competition)

1 Rob Taylor, Nick Sherratt, Dave Twist , Rob Thompson net 54.2; 2 Howard Rigby, Steve Davies, John Pennington, Jim Bates 55.1; 3 Mark Shea, Chris Jones, Rob Parkes Greg Rogula 55.4

Chris French (handicap 13) has scored a hole-in-one at the 11th.
