HELP for Heroes has received a financial boost from Leek United Building Society for the second year running.
A total of £2,850 was raised for the charity, which helps injured soldiers, during the society’s annual charity golf day at Leek Golf Club, Birchall.
The sum exceeds the £2,500 raised at last year’s golf day, and was officially handed over to Steve Parker, the charity’s Central Regional Co-ordinator, by Chief Executive Kevin Wilson at Leek United’s head office in St Edward Street.
Mr Wilson said: "We are once again delighted to be able to make this donation to Help for Heroes. Our charity golf day has become an annual fixture to raise money for good causes in the community we serve, and there can certainly be few more deserving of support than the heroes for whom Help for Heroes works."
After receiving the donation, Mr Parker added: "Help for Heroes has now been in existence for almost six years.
“In that time we have managed to raise over £170 million, none of which would have been possible without the support of the British public and organisations such as Leek United.”
