LEEK Town's girls section has gone from strength to strength. There are now more than 60 girls, from under-8s to under-16s.

Chris Hesketh, girls section organiser, remarked: "This an amazing feat given that this is only the second season of girls football at the club."

The under-10s, under-12s and under-13s led the first team out at Harrison Park for the recent match against Scarborough Athletic. The under-13s have had a particularly good Christmas, finishing unbeaten at the top of the North Staffs Junior Girls Autumn League.

Training for the under-12s, under-13s and under-16s has started again on Tuesday nights at Leek High School, between 7pm-8pm. The under-8s and under-10s train on Wednesday nights, between 6-7pm, at Westwood College sports hall.

Girls interested in joining the ranks are more than welcome to turn up at training, or for more information call Chris Hesketh on 01538 360790.
