Getliffes Yard is jewel in the Queen of the Moorlands' crown

LAST weekend saw the grand opening of a new town centre tearooms

The Yard Tearooms officially opened at Getliffe's Yard, off Derby Street, Leek, on Saturday.

Dozens of people attended the event to look around the tearooms and shop and try out the tea and cakes on offer, as well as finding out more about forthcoming craft workshops and events.

The tearooms has been opened by Annette Ward, who has had a business in the yard for six years, having started with her property services company, Award Property Services, in August 2008.

After a couple of years, she opened The Handbag Shop, followed shortly afterwards by The Wool Shop, and now The Yard Tearooms.

Annette is introducing a range of craft workshops in the tearooms, beginning with knitting, crochet and quilting, and adding more classes and workshops in coming weeks.

The tearooms is also available for private hire for events and parties, including children's parties, which can include craft workshops.
