A popular singer and songwriter is heading back to a monthly music night near Uttoxeter.
The next Meet on the Ridge will be taking place at it's regular venue of Doveridge Club this Friday (August 1) and will feature a performance by Gavin Sutherland, one half of the Sutherland Brothers Band who were most famous for being the writers of Sailing and Arms of Mary.
For the past few years, Gavin, who now lives in Scotland has been concentrating on writing and recording at his own studio in Macduff but is looking forward to joining up with Uttoxeter's Vice Bishops again for another live show, following their recent sell-out concert at The Foxlowe Arts Centre as part of the Leek Arts Festival.
The collaboration is made easier by the fact that Fred Hopwood of The Vice Bishops was the original drummer in The Sutherland Brothers Band and performed on their much-acclaimed first album which included the American hit single, The Pie, and that the band is also joined by keyboard player Carl Damiano.
Gavin will be performing material from his latest CD 'Tango at The Lost Café ' as well as songs from his earlierCDs: "The Deal" and "Diamonds and Gold" which are all available together with the Sutherland.Bros Band and SB & Quiver back catalogue by going online to www.gavinsutherland.net.
Advance tickets for Gavin's Meet on the Ridge gig on Friday are priced at only £5 and available by calling 01889 563123.
