MEMBERS of the Leek and Moorlands NSPCC fund-raising committee have collected £344.06 from generous shoppers at Sainsbury's Leek store.

Valerie Smith, who is the collections organiser for the committee, said: "We have strong support in Leek and local people are very generous when it comes to supporting the NSPCC. Our local children's centre, Carole House in Basford, Stoke-on-Trent, gives support and therapy to local children and families.

"This centre depends on donations to keep going, so we are delighted that we raised such a good amount.

"We would like to thank Sainsbury's for agreeing to support this local centre which does so much to help vulnerable and abused children from our area."

The Leek and Moorlands NSPCC collect regularly from local supermarkets.

If you feel you could donate an hour of your time to help the group out, then details can be obtained from Sue Wardle, chairman, on the number 01782 550258.
