THE SUN shone for an annual fun day at a town park this weekend.
The seventh Churchill Road Festival was staged at the Churchill Road Recreational Grounds on Sunday.
The event saw a host of activities for all the family including five-a-side football, darts knock-out contest, a climbing wall, refreshments, as well as a large inflatable ‘Crazy Cottage’.
Co-organiser Debbie Finney said: “It went very well although we could have done with a few more stalls.
“The sun shone and the children enjoyed the fun fair rides and especially the inflatable cottage.
“We had lots of people turn up throughout the day and the live band in the evening was great.” The event, which ran from noon until midnight, had been a two-day event up until last year.
Debbie explained: “It was originally over two days but due to costs, it was decided to have it all on one day and it is working better.
“We have lots of sporting activities such as darts, football and tug of war. It’s a good family day out.” The winner of the darts knock-out contest was Leon Smith.
Debbie explained that the committee are on the look out for new ideas and support to be able to put the eighth Churchill Road Festival next year.
