THE reopening of a pub after an extensive refurbishment, has been hailed a success by its owners.
Caldmore Taverns Ltd reopened The Fountain Inn, in the same named street in Leek, in May after spending in the region of £200,000 on refurbishing the venue.
Landlord Alistair Morris, who has been in the pub trade for 21 years, said: “Further to the re-opening of The Fountain Inn after 18 months of closure, the first few months have been a success, with old regulars coming back and new customers coming through the door making it their local.
“The Fountain Inn is a traditional pub – no loud music, background only, so conversations can be kept and heard.
“There is a traditional darts board, giant chess set and antique dominoes to play with, as well as scrabble and other board games.
“And there is even an outdoor terrace with blankets for those with colder blood.
“But the best thing about the pub is its beers.” The pub also offers regular events such as a beer raffle and complimentary cheese plate at 4pm on Sundays, and psychic evenings once a month.
A quiz night is held every Thursday by Big Andy at 8pm.
Mr Morris added: “We are also looking at holding our first Beer Festival the second week in September, between 12th and 15th.
“There will be 13 real ales supplied by Paul Dukes from 13 different breweries.
“We have brand new kitchen facilities and an accompanying snug area, ideal for wakes, formal and informal meeting and buffets for all kinds and occasions. We also have two well appointed en-suite letting rooms.
