A FOOTBALLER was airlifted to hospital after being seriously hurt during a match at Draycott on Sunday morning.
Fulford & Tean captain Matt Forrester suffered a double fracture of the left leg 20 minutes into his team's fixture against Uttoxeter Dominoes.
The air ambulance landed on an adjoining pitch, at Draycott Old Road, to convey the 23-year-old central defender to the major trauma unit at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
After consulting both teams, the referee took the decision to abandon the match.
Fulford are currently third in the Second Division of the Uttoxeter & District Sunday League, two points adrift of leaders Little Stoke.
Little Stoke's fixture at Cheadle Town was one of a number that fell victim to the weather.
