A SPECTATOR who threw a firework on to the pitch at Leek Town has been banned from the ground for five years.

The incident happened after Hungerford scored their winning goal in the FA Trophy game on Saturday.

The culprit was identified after Blues officials reviewed footage from the club's recently-installed CCTV system.

Police have confirmed that the person concerned is known to them and officers are investigating the matter with a view to prosecution.

The ban has already come into place, as a breach of the club's safety regulations.

Blues are now seeking guidance from the Football Association with a view to banning for life individuals who flout the ground regulations.
