SHEEN Farmers are preparing themselves for a very important trip across the Irish Sea next month.
They will be representing Great Britain in the world indoor tug of war championships at Briefy House in County Mayo, where they will defend their 640 kilos title for the second year running.
The invitation to compete at global level again follows another impressive medal haul from the recent national championships in Smethwick.
The Sheen pullers competed in an exhausting seven weight categories and took gold in the catchweight, 640 kilos, 720 kilos and mixed 600 kilos events.
They also added two silver medals and a bronze medal from other weights to their collection.
A Sheen Farmers spokesman said: "We went into this year's nationals with a smaller squad than normal but thanks to some fantastic performances, it still proved to be a successful day for us. Promising newcomers Dan Williams, and Tom and Jack Belfield, won selection to the England under-23 squad for the UK championships in Huddersfield.
