Comments (0) THREE generations of a Cheadle family have declared their support Douglas Macmillan Hospice's annual Light up a Life campaign.

Husband Steve Roberts, daughters Louise Large and Sara Roberts and grandson Tyler Large will all be dedicating a light on the Hospice's Christmas tree to remember Caroline Roberts who passed away after care from the Hospice last September.

Light up a Life is a remembrance campaign in which anyone can make a donation to dedicate a light on the Hospice's Christmas tree.

This year 'Light Up a Life' is going out in the community with a special family friendly free event being held at Stoke City Football Club's Britannia Stadium on Sunday,December 15, with gates opening at 2pm.

Each supporter who supports the campaign before Bonfire night on Tuesday, November 5, will receive a free Christmas decoration and guaranteed entry in the first edition of the Book of Memories.

Steve Roberts said: "Caroline really didn't want to come into the Hospice and worried that she wouldn't return home, but after her first stay there she said she didn't want to leave.

"We supported the Light Up a Life campaign last year, and we thought it would benefit us with it being the first Christmas since losing her.

"We think this campaign can provide comfort to lots of people who have lost someone."

Liz Clarke, Head of Fundraising added: "Our Light up a Life campaign is a touching way for local people to remember someone special even if they haven't been cared for by the Hospice.

"All monies raised from the campaign will help the Hospice to continue to care for local people facing life limiting illnesses."
