Fairhurst victory earns a pole start

THE BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars returned to Buxton Raceway at the weekend for their World Championship semi -final.

Drivers and fans alike travelled from all over the country to attend what proved to be an excellent meeting, with 24 cars entered in the main race.

Current World Champion Lee Fairhurst took the chequered flag to earn pole position at the World Championship at Kings Lynn later in the season.

Second over the line was Tom Harris, who had led the race for every lap but was beaten by an excellent move from Fairhurst on the final corner.

Third place went to the meeting sponsors son, Dan Johnson from MVS Van Sales in Sheffield.

Another formula travelling from around the country were the V8 Hot Stox who raceds for their British Championship, Craig Smith took the chequered flag and the chequered roof for 2013 in the V8 Hot Stox British Championship, closely followed by Karl Harkins and Kevin Stuchbury.

Next up at Buxton Raceway is the Bank Holiday Championship weekend, August 25-26.

On the Sunday, the national bangers return to Buxton for the crashing and the BriSCA F2’s for the stock car racing, The highlight of the weekend has to be the Car Jump Championship which takes place on the Monday, alongside the BriSCA F2 Stock Cars and Bangers.

Bank Holiday Monday also sees the staging of the European Championship for the 1300 Saloon Stock Cars.
