A TREKKING duo have had a further donation added to their recent fund-raising challenge.
The Sir William Plant Lodge of the RAOB (Cheadle Buffs) presented Rob Edwards from Freehay and his companion Gary Palmer, a cheque for £265 in aid of the Douglas Macmillan Hospice.
This represented a sponsorship of £1 per mile for the 265 mile trek of the Pennine Way that the duo had undertaken.
Although carrying all their supplies in rucksacks of over 20 kilograms the trek was completed in 16 days with one day being a 28 mile walk. The walk from the Scottish borders to just outside Derby was through a variety of terrain and countryside passing through some very pleasant villages - a few with a welcome pub at the end of the day. This has bought their total fund raising to approximately £1,800 for the trek making all the blisters they suffered seem worthwhile.
Rob and Gary would like to thank everyone for their support and sponsorship for their challenge.
