A MUSIC duo will be performing at a village pub this month.

The Elevators will be at The Red Lion in Checkley on Friday, January 24.

The Elevators is a a duo comprising Den Coultas on guitar and vocals and Carl Damiano on keyboards and vocals.

Their music is a mix of pop, rock, blues and folk. Carl explained how the duo formed: "It started out a couple years ago as something fun to do since Den and I like lots of the same music but lately we've been playing out quite a bit more and trying out new places."

Den has been active as a songwriter and recorded for a number of years with Ian and Gavin Sutherland of 'Arms of Mary' and 'Sailing' fame. He was later signed to the New York company Monsterkat owned by Texas guitarist Jon Barrett which has published a number of Den's songs in the U.S. He has had success lately with the song 'Wrong Side Of Your Heart' which made it to number two in the European download charts.

Carl is originally from the U.S. but has been in the U.K. for seven years and still won't go home. He spent years on the road playing keyboards with assorted groups sharing the stage as an opening act for bands as diverse as Jefferson Starship, The Band, Taj Mahal, Rita Marley and Burning Spear. He also wrote music for TV documentaries and once composed the score for a theatrical film which he says was so bad he refuses to give its' name as it pops up on late night television here every now and then.

In addition to working as a duo, The Elevators also play regularly with local blues band The Vice Bishops and the Joe And The Volcanos rock-a-billy group.

The Elevators gig at The Red Lion in Checkley will include a mix of contemporary American and English songs.
