ELECTORS across the Staffordshire Moorlands are being sent a letter from the district council as changes are made to the way we all register to vote.

Everyone who wants to be able to vote in elections and referendums needs to be registered.

Until now, one person in every household was responsible for registering everyone at that address.

But from this summer this is changing and every person will be required to register individually.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is writing to all residents who are eligible to vote. Councillor Sybil Ralphs, Leader of the Council, said: "The changes being introduced this summer will strengthen the registration system and they affect everyone of voting age. We'll now be backing this up by sending a letter to every person who is eligible to vote with further information about any action they need to take. I'd urge everyone to look out for their letter and to follow any instructions it contains."
