CHEADLE fund-raiser Duncan Cowans has raised over £4,000 for Douglas Macmillan Hospice after completing a sponsored bike ride from the Arc De Triumph to Marble Arch.
Local salon owner Duncan, took on the challenge alongside a team of cyclist friends at the end of May and was delighted to drop off the monies to the Hospice this week.
This is not the first time Duncan has taken on a challenge to raise money for Dougie Mac, having competed in two long distance bike rides in the past.
The motivation for Duncan and his team was to help the Hospice celebrate its 40th Anniversary, and to honour the memory of his mother who passed away after receiving care in 2006.
Duncan said: “It’s great to bring the money into the Hospice, and I would like to thank everyone who sponsored the group as we couldn’t have done it without their support.
“This is the perfect way for me to say thank you to Dougie Mac during its Ruby year.”
Liz Clarke, Head of Fundraising noted, “We would like to thank you Duncan , his team and all who have supported him in raising such an amazing sum of money for the Hospice.
“The money raised from this fundraiser will help the Hospice continue to provide the level of care we are renowned for in the local community of North Staffordshire for people facing life limiting illnesses.”
