THE driver of a vehicle involved in a collision which resulted in the death of a Leek woman has been sentenced.

Brian Prince, aged 52, of Rimbach Drive, Little Haywood, appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court today (Tuesday) following the incident which occurred at around 1.20pm on Friday, October 12, 2012. He had pleaded guilty at a previous court hearing.

The case came after pedestrian Donna Adams, aged 48, of Hartington Close, Leek, suffered serious injuries in the collision which occurred at the junction of Cruso Street and Broad Street.

A detailed police investigation began and officers made an appeal for witnesses to come forward with information, after the vehicle failed to stop, which led to an arrest.

Yesterday Mr Prince received a community order which involves 140 hours of unpaid work and disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £500 costs and £60 victim charge.
