A CHEDDLETON woman who has had a life-long interest in sewing can now enjoy her hobby even more after winning an author's latest book on the subject.
Former Leek teacher Lorna Knight has just seen her sixth book hit the shelves.
She spends her days running hands-on workshops to teach people new skills and writes sewing reference books and magazine articles. Her latest book, entitled Complete Dressmaking Skills, is particularly interesting as it is a video book.
Mrs Knight offered a free copy of her book to one lucky Post & Times reader.
The lucky winner of the competition was Doreen Robinson of Ostlers Lane.
Mrs Robinson said: "I usually never win anything so I am very happy to win a copy of Lorna's Book. I have always enjoyed sewing and made my girls dresses.
"My mother had a treddle machine, so its in the family."
As well as including step-by-step photographs to explain sewing techniques, there are also 15 short video clips to show the processes in full.
By scanning the code with your smartphone or tablet you can be able to watch a mini-film to see exactly how to carry out the technique.
The video clips are also accessible on a PC or laptop.
