A NAIL technician is going it alone after 14 years in the business.

Donna Billings has opened D's Nail Parlour in Stockwell Street, Leek, her first solo venture as a nail technical having formerly been in a shared premises in Getliffe's Yard for three years.

The 34-year-old has been a nail technical for 14 years, having trained at a college in her native home of Accrington, Blackburn.

She moved to Leek after attending Staffordshire University, where she studied for a photography degree, in 2001.

She now lives in Cheddleton with her husband Lee Billings and their two children.

She said: "I wanted something that I could call my own and I felt I was ready to give it a go.

"I've built up a really good, loyal clientele and they have all followed me here.

"I've had a really good response about the new premises and people have said it's really homely and welcoming, which is exactly how I wanted it to be.

"I've kept everything in-keeping with the old features of the building and everyone's been really supportive and have said it looks fantastic. I'm getting more footfall here and I've had a lot of new clients making appointments and enquiries."

Donna specialises in acrylic and gel nails and polishes, and themes her manicure treatments around her love of music.

She is also introducing 3D nail art.

She said: "I've got a few ideas for the future and ideally would love to have my own team and build the business up further, and maybe get into teaching in a few years as well."
