Death was due to natural causes

THE death of a man who passed away in a Cheadle bookmakers has been confirmed as being down to natural causes.

Patrick Ferris, aged 74, of Malthouse Road, Alton, collapsed and died in William Hill Bookmakers in Moorland Walk, Cheadle, on Monday, March 31.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service at around 1.30pm on Monday, March 31, after a man collapsed in William Hill Bookmakers in Moorland Walk, Cheadle. Sadly, despite paramedics efforts, the man died.

"He has been formally identified as Patrick Ferris, aged 74, of Malthouse Road, Alton.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for Her Majesty's Coroner."

A spokesman from North Staffordshire Coroners Court in Hartshill has confirmed that an inquest will not be taking place, as the cause of Mr Ferris' death has been confirmed as being down to natural causes.
