A fire in the Day Therapy Unit at the Douglas Macmillan Hospice was discovered yesterday at around 5.40pm.
All emergency services attended but there were no patients in the Unit at the time and there were no injuries to staff or volunteers .
Jeanette McCartney , Director of Clinical Services Development said ;
“Two rooms and furnishings have been damaged within the Day Therapy Unit so it will not be operational this week .
It is hoped that normal services for patients will resume on Monday 28th July and we will be utilising other areas within the Hospice .
Offers of help have been coming in and we want to thank everyone for their concern and assistance so far .”
