YOU name it and motor-sport fanatic Dan Lucas has raced it, from cars, buses and lorries, and now even a mobility scooter.

"I did it for a laugh, it was really good fun" said the 40 year old, who made his scooter debut at Buxton Raceway.

"I've been racing at Buxton since I was 16, I love the track and this was something different," he said.

Unlike the usual high-speed challenges Dan has become accustomed to, like stock rod and banger racing, he struggled to get close to 12mph on his buggy and had to settle for third place in the final.

It was a somewhat different story a few weeks ago, when Dan was competing in the fast and furious contact sport of banger racing at Coventry.

Dan's car took a nasty whack which led to him being badly concussed.

"I can't remember anything about it," he said

However, the experience hasn't dented Dan's desire to go on competing at motor-sport.

At the end of this month he has booked in for a series of caravan races at Buxton Raceway's Bank Holiday meeting.
