THE FOLLOWING CASES HAVE APPEARED BEFORE NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE MAGISTRATES’ COURT, NEWCASTLE

Robin Macdonald, of Caverswall Castle, Blythe Bridge Road, Caverswall, aged 41, has been charged with 15 counts of breaching enforcement notices imposed by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council between 2010 and 2013. He has been committed for trial to Stokeon- Trent Crown Court to appear on August 27.

Samuel Robert Thrasher, of 8 The Grange, Forsbrook, aged 24, has been charged with driving a Volkswagen Golf on Leek Road in Cellarhead on July 8 while over the drink drive limit. He pleaded guilty and has been fined £110, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85 and has been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 20 months to be reduced by five months if he satisfactorily completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.

Derek Ivan Leonard, of 1 Foxfield Close, Cheadle, aged 20, has been charged with driving a Ford Fiesta in Cheadle on May 18 on Chapel Street, while over the drink drive limit. He is also charged with failing without reasonable excuse to surrender to custody at North Staffordshire Magistrates Court on August 1 at Newcastleunder- Lyme after being released on bail. He pleaded guilty and has been fined £160, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85, and has been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months to be reduced by three months if he completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.

Stephen John Ball, of 76 Haregate Road, Leek, aged 25 has been charged with assaulting Robert Patalong on June 9. He pleaded not guilty and will appear at Newcastle under Lyme Magistrates Court. He is also charged with stealing a coat valued £70 belonging to Robert Patalong on June 9 in Leek and breaking a bail condition by failing to sign on at Leek on July 22. He was re-admitted to conditional bail to appear at Newcastle-Under- Lyme Magistrate's Court on August 23 and excluded from contacting in any way Robert Patalong, John Rice, Tony John and not to enter West Street in Leek and must report to Leek Police Station between 2pm and 4pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Kevin Connor, of 7 Greatwood Street, Tean, aged 47, has been charged with failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions in the prescribed manner of a change of circumstance which would affect his entitlement to Disability Living Allowance, namely that his capabilities had improved. He pleaded guilty and a community order was made and the defendant must comply with the requirements including carrying out 60 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and pay a victim surcharge of £60.

Sian Morgan-Rimes, of 3 Redhill Drive, in Tean, aged 38, has been charged with failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions in the prescribed manner of a change of circumstances which she knew would affect her entitlement to Widowed Mother’s Allowance, namely that she was living together with Mr Richard Owen as husband and wife, on March 31.

Also, between March 9, 2004, and August 16, 2007, at Tean, she failed to promptly notify the Department of Work and Pensions in the prescribed manner of a change of circumstances which would affect her entitlement to Widowed Mother’s Allowance that she was living with Mr Nigel Mortlock, as husband and wife. She pleaded guilty and is due to appear at Newcastle-under- Lyme Magistrates Court.

Cyril Millward, of 44 Fairview Road, in Leek, aged 64, has been charged with making a statement or representation to the Department for Work and Pensions, which they knew was false, by giving incomplete information regarding the capital or their telephone benefit application and failing to declare the true extent of the capital, with a view of obtaining for himself a benefit or other payment not stated under relevant Social Security legislation, on March 27 at Stoke-on- Trent. He pleaded guilty to this and has been given a community order stating that he must carry out 40 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

He also has to pay a victim surcharge of £60, along with fees of £100 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Edward William Brown, of Pine Tree View, in Winnothdale, Tean, aged 34, has been charged with driving a Landrover Discovery on Ashbourne Road in Threapwood on June 22 while over the drink drive limit. He pleaded guilty and a community order was made and he is required to participate in Alcohol Workbook, Victim Awareness and Supervision Requirement. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £60, court costs of £85 and has been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 30 months to be reduced by 30 weeks if he satisfactorily completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.

Andrew Abbot, of 2 Thorley Drive, Cheadle, aged 26, has been charged with driving a Vauxhall Astra on Uttoxeter Road Blythe Bridge on March 2 without paying due care or attention. He pleaded guilty and has been fined £105 and has been ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £35and his driving licence has been endorsed with three points.

Deborah Everall-Milward, of 26 Prospect Road, in Leek, aged 47, has been charged with assaulting Court file two police constables, Rhian Mason and Paul Rushworth, while they were in execution of their duties on June 30 in Leek. She has pleaded guilty and has been given a fine of £80 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85.

Leanne Smart, of Apartment 4, Salisbury House, Salisbury Street, in Leek, aged 24, has been charged with committing arson on December 27 in Leek.

She pleaded guilty and has been given a prison sentence of 18 weeks, suspended for 12 months, ordered to pay compensation of £200 and court costs of £85, and ordered to comply with a supervision order for 12 months.

Claire Bould, aged 26, of Broad Street, Leek, has denied arson with intent to endanger life on May 21 but pleaded guilty to arson being reckless as to whether lives of others would be endangered. She will be sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court after a report is prepared on her by probation. Broad has been bailed to live at her parents’home in Wardle Crescent, Leek.
