MEMBERS from some of the many organisations and groups in Cheadle gathered at Cheadle Methodist Church on the morning of Sunday, March 16, for a service of celebration.

During the service, led by Reverend Andrew Farrington, representatives from the various groups described what their group does.

Some told a little of the history of their organisation, and in all cases the work done within each group is voluntary.

Those taking part were Pauline Keates (representing CATS), Peter Kent (Lions),Kevin Moore (Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes), Chris Branford (Probus), Brenda Sammons and Carole Sanderson (St John Ambulance), Sheila Wood (Inner Wheel), Glenys Hedges (Churches Together), Helen Wainwright (Homelink), Diane Lucas (Flower Club, Art Group, Arts Forum, U3A), Sue Barker (Scouts), Marcia Sutton (Nursery) and Pearl Wardrop (Tots Club).

The Town Mayor councillor Ian Plant and Reverend Noel Clarke (Cheadle and District Foodbank) read the lessons from the Bible. These represent just a few of the many voluntary organisations in our town; there is certainly much to celebrate in the Cheadle Community.
