THE chairman of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has raised £500 for charity by completing a sponsored swim.
Jim Davies carried out the swim for his nominated charities by swimming two and a half kilometres, which is one hundred lengths of Biddulph Baths, in just under an hour.
The lengths were counted and verified by Gerry Machin, chairman of the Rotary Club of Biddulph. For his efforts Jim raised £500 for Prostate Cancer and volunteers in the community.
He will also be involved with other events to raise money for the same causes.
Biddulph and District Youth Orchestra are holding a concert on the October 12 at Biddulph Town Hall.
The Phoenix Singers of Leek will be performing in All Saints Church on October 19 and the Biddulph Male Voice Choir will be performing in 2014.
All monies raised will be distributed at the end of his civic year in May 2014.
