THE LEEK branch of the Salvation Army is appealing for toys and food which will be given out to deprived families this Christmas.

The annual appeal, which is conjunction with Staffordshire Social Services, has a number of collection points around the town including at the Sainsbury's store.

Major Rudi Pilsel, at the Leek Salvation Army, said: "There is a list of around 100 needy families that we would like to give toys and food to this Christmas.

"We will be collecting the donations from the different places and then Social Services will be distributing the items to the families."
