Cheadle find it tough in Premier

Ball Haye Green kept their Leek Cup hopes alives by beating local rivals AFC Leek Town 2-0 on Saturday.

CHEADLE Town are continuing to find life difficult in the Staffordshire County Senior League Premier Division this season.

They suffered their eighth defeat in 12 games when going down 3-2 away to Keele University on Saturday, after going ahead through Jono Goodall.

Keele equalised through Sanj Bajgoric and then took the lead through Ben Nene before the break.

Dan Brundrett added a third for Keele and Dan Rooksby replied for Cheadle.

In Division One, Pat Callaghan put Cheadle SMU ahead at home to Foley and Mitchell Finney added a second goal before Dan Robson and Jordan Aitkin brought the score level. Joe Bailey netted Cheadle’s winner In the Staffordshire Challenge Cup, Leek CSOB changed ends 2-0 ahead at Betley Reserves thanks to strikes from Macaulay Martin and Nick Malkin. Zak Barker added a third after the break and Betley replied with a consolation effort from Matt Bayliss.

After a goalless first half LA Holditch scored three times at home to Cheadle Town Reserves through Jordan James (2) and Sam Richards. Ben Johnson replied for the visitors.

Ball Haye Green won their local derby with Leek Town Reserves in the Leek Cup fourth round with first half goals from Mitch Simpson and Martin Baker..

Uttoxeter Town were the round’s highest scorers, winning 8-1 away to Ashbourne.

Also through to the next round are Stapenhill, Redgate Clayton, and Abbey Hulton United.
