BUSINESSES across Cheadle's High Street were open for a special one-off Christmas event on Friday, December 6.

The shops, which normally close at 5pm, re-opened their doors from 6pm until 8pm, to help frenzied shoppers with their last minute Christmas shopping, while also offering them a glass of sherry and a mince pie, to keep their strength up.

The event followed the Christmas Lights Switch-on in High Street on Saturday, November 30, and precedes the Christmas Farmers' Market this weekend on Saturday, December 14.
