CHURCHES Together in Cheadle and District gathered for the Annual Walk of Witness on Good Friday, April 18.

Good Friday and Easter are the most important and significant dates in the Christian calendar and local Christians bear witness to this by carrying a cross through the town.

The event began at Cheadle Methodist Church with a short service. Participants then left the church in procession led by Father James Rosie and Church Warden Stewart Williams (pictured) carrying the cross. Hymns were sung as progress was made up Chapel Street, Cross Street, High Street to Butlers Hill and into Tape Street car park, finishing in Greyhound Walk for a short service of witness before the cross was placed in the car park.
