IT WAS time again for the Annual Meeting at Cheadle WI recently. There was a lively debate on this year's resolution concerning 'Organ Donation' and members voted in favour of the resolution which will be put to the National AGM in June. We then moved on to business matters. Secretary, Sue Clare, reported on an enjoyable year with a variety of speakers. Members had supported the Group meetings and some of the County events, especially the two annual Council Meetings, and the lunches had been particularly popular. President, Lynne Garner echoed these views and agreed it had been an active year and thanked everyone for their support. Treasurer, Norma Hancock presented the Financial Report and she was thanked for her hard work and thanks were also expressed to the auditor. Lynne was re-elected as President, with Chris Lugg continuing as Vice-President, Sue Clare as Secretary and Norma Hancock as Treasurer. Two members retired from the committee but the remaining committee members were all re-elected for the coming year. Looking ahead to the new session we will be celebrating our 25th birthday in September and will host the next Group meeting in October. We are looking forward to lunch at Denstone Hall Farm on 4th June and names were quickly added to the lists for the Leigh lunch in August and the Autumn Council meeting in October. Everyone then enjoyed the cream scones and tea provided by the committee, and the evening concluded with Glenys entertaining members with some amusing extracts for one of Gervase Phinn's books. At our next meeting on Monday, 9th June 2014, we were to hear about 'Angie's Quilts'. New members and visitors are very welcome.
