THE annual Cheadle Spring 5 road race is now just a few weeks away.

The race, to be staged on Sunday, March 2, is run over a distance of five miles and organised by Cheadle Running club.

The event was held for the first time in 2000, replacing the Cheadle Spring 6, which had been held for the previous 10 years. This year marks the 24th anniversary of the two races.

There are commemorative medals for all finishers.

Youngsters can take part in a short fun run, which starts just after the main race. There are spot prizes in this event and all finishers will receive a medal.

Entries for the main race are £7 for club runners and £9 for unattached runners. Entries on the day are are £2 extra.

It costs £2.50 to enter the fun run, either as an early entry or on the day itself.

The closing date for postal entries is February 22. Cheques should be made payable to "Cheadle Running Club" and sent to B Clutton, 69 Thorley Drive, Cheadle ST10 1SF.

For more details, phone 01538 754339 or go to the club's website at www.cheadlerunningclub.com.
