THERE will be a double celebration at a theatre concert this month with milestone anniversaries for both the venue and the performing group.
This year will see the 60th anniversary of the first-ever rehearsal of the 'Audley & District Male Voice Choir'; now better known as 'Audley Male Voice Choir'.
The choir has a series of events planned to celebrate its Diamond Jubilee Year including a performance at the Clonter Theatre, near Congleton, which is celebrating it's own 40th anniversary.
Situated in Swettenham Heath, near Congleton, The Clonter Theatre; captures the drama and glamour of a night at the theatre but with a twist – combining performances with either a 70 minute supper/picnic interval, or a pre-performance supper, all in a converted barn in Cheshire.
The Audley Choir's concert, which will take place on Saturday, February 15, is being hosted to help raise funds for the "Music in Hospitals", a national charity that takes 'live' musical performances to brighten the lives of patients in hospitals and nursing-care homes across the country.
A spokesman for Audley Choir said: "Although this will be our first-ever visit to Clonter Theatre, it is being eagerly anticipated by one and all as the choir's internationally acclaimed patron, Ingrid Surgenor MBE, will also be 'on stage' that night as she accompanies two very talented soloists; (Irish Soprano) Eimear Collins and (Welsh Tenor)Trystan Griffiths; on the piano. It should be a night to remember."
Later in the year; the choir will be performing at Trinity Methodist Chapel in Wagg Street, Congleton on Saturday, May 10;
and then joining several other male voice choirs in taking part in "Bollington Festival" near Macclesfield on Saturday, May 24.
