For the tenth anniversary of The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice’s Annual 10K and 5K Family Fun Run, the Charity is looking for 1,000 runners to line up at the start.
This year’s event is on Sunday, 11th May, with runners getting underway at 10am on a picturesque route around Trentham Gardens.
The 10k course is accredited by UK Athletics with official race times for all runners, who must be over 16. The 5K course is open to all ages and abilities, with many runners donning fancy dress.
Entry for the 10k is £14 for adults and £12 for adults in the 5K. A child entry in the 5K is £7 and a family entry of two adults and two children is £35 with all proceeds going to the Charity.
Katy Burgess-Lowe, Events Fundraiser, said: “As this is the 10th anniversary of our annual run, we wanted to set a new record of 1,000 runners.
“The course is suitable for all abilities and we have club athletes through to whole families who jog and walk their way round. There’s a great atmosphere on the day and a lot of people go to amazing lengths with fancy dress costumes. We’ve had the cast of Star Wars through to a jar of tomato sauce all taking part.
“Everyone who finishes gets a medal and the money from their entry fee, and any sponsorship, goes towards funding the services at the Hospice. This money will be used to help more than 180 families from across Staffordshire and South Cheshire.”
